Mini Meditation Experience of Adolescents
Lee Kyeong-Hee

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to fully understand the meaning and the essence of mini meditation experiences of adolescents.

Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight high school-students from October to December, 2008. Data were analyzed using Giorgi"s phenomenological data analysis method.

Results: The analysis resulted in four essential components: "Journey to an unknown world" meant that students acquired techniques related to mini meditation; "The inner part of me" meant that the participants encountered one¡¯ inner self; "A different side of me" referred to the effects of mini meditation; "My own personal definition of meditation" meant that insights were driven from mini meditation.

Conclusion: Meditative sessions had a positive effect on adolescents. Sessions of three minutes were found to be ideal for maximum effect, which allowed awakening and self-introspection. The environment did not have influence on the effects of mini meditation. Mini meditation could be an adequate tool for the adolescents to practice self-growth.
